Zimco, Inc. was founded in 1994 as a technology consulting firm specializing in the needs of the educational community. Our primary customer base consists of educational institutions and small businesses in the Saginaw Valley and Greater Thumb area of Michigan. We also serve education customers throughout Michigan.
Zimco's vision is to provide our customers with outstanding customer service and to educate the technology user in a way that is non-intimidating so he or she can maximize the potential of the available technology.
Zimco currently provides the following services to its customers:
· Consulting: Consulting consists of providing expertise and advice in the areas of broadband services and network needs and design; technology planning; bid preparation and review; structured data cabling system design and implementation; IP telephony integration, distance learning applications, e-rate consulting and form review and technology implementation management.
· Training: After implementation of the network and related software, Zimco provides its customers with high-quality, user-friendly training to ensure the user has a good understanding of the system. Most technology trainers make the user feel intimidated by technology and therefore uncomfortable when using technology. Training is the most critical element to the successful implementation of new technology. In today's rapidly changing technology environment, school administrators and business employers find it difficult to provide the expertise needed to maximize the funds spent on technology. Users have been very receptive to the unique style of training modules used by Zimco, giving schools and businesses a greater return on their training investment.
· Technical Support: Once systems have been installed and the training completed, Zimco provides technical support to ensure minimum down time with any network system. Technical support includes optimizing network performance; trouble-shooting; network and software upgrades; the installation of structured cabling systems; security management; and annual cleaning and maintenance of file server systems.
Zimco is a family owned corporation. Its founder, Dawn Zimmer, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University. Her majors include Computer Information Management, Management and Marketing. Prior to forming the corporation in 1994, Dawn worked for nine years with IBM Corporation. As an Account Systems Engineer, Dawn was responsible for technical consulting and marketing support to the K-12 educational community.
Scott Zimmer joined Zimco in June of 1999. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saginaw Valley State University. His majors include Accounting and Management. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1992. Prior to joining Zimco, Scott worked with Deloitte & Touche, an international accounting firm where he was responsible for tax and audit services to Fortune 500 clients such as The Dow Chemical Company and General Motors. In 1992, he joined The F.P. Horak Company as a controller. His last position there was Vice President of Finance and Accounting where he was responsible for financial statement preparation and presentation, strategic planning and operational management. F.P. Horak's annual revenue doubled to over $20 million during his tenure and he helped oversee the acquisition and development of two separate companies. His Zimco responsibilities include project management, training and technical support.
Zimco employs a technical staff to support the ongoing technical issues faced by our clients. Zimco also uses contract labor to assist with technical support issues. Our employees have over 100 years of combined experience dealing with technology issues.
